Kerto

Kerto for advanced engineering Kerto, the high technology wood product for advanced engineering, is a weather resistant laminated wood product. It is produced from 3mm thick, rotary peeled softwood veneers, glued together using a WBP-type glue to form a continuous 1.8 metre wide billet, with thicknesses ranging from 27 to 75mm and a maximum length of 26 metres. The billet is then hot pressed and cut to size to make beams, planks, posts or panels, which are then used as such or processed into a variety of products.

Kerto is a strong and dimensionally precise product which does not warp or twist. It derives its high strength from the homogenous bonded structure which also keeps the effects of any defective single veneers down to a minimum.

Thermowood

Payne Thermowood is produced by treating timber at high temperatures in special kilns. Heat treatment alters the cellular structure of the wood. It reduces the equilibrium moisture content by up to 50% and makes the wood less susceptible to reabsorbing moisture from the air.

The process also expels resins and breaks down some of the timbers natural sugars. Heat treatment produces a moer stable and durable timber. It brings hardwood performance to environmentally friendly Scandinavian hardwood.

Thermowood is ideal for external timber claddings, worktops, garden furniture, and decking products.

Enhanced Durability
Finforest category 2 Treated pine achieves natural duability classification grade 2 (durable) – a level that’s equal to Western Red Cedar and Eropean Oak (tests according to Standard EN350-1 Natural Durability). Better still, the enhanced durability applies to both the hearwood and sapwood.
Environmentally Sound
All our heat-treated softwood carries PEFC certification. Which guarantees the timber is from well managed forestry.
Improved stability
Thermowood is more stable than untreated softwood. The process reduces movement through shrinkage, swelling and distortion by up to 50%.
Richer Colour
Heat treatment darkens the colour of timber all the way through to the core, so even when cut the colour and protection remain constant. The higher the temperature, the darker the colour.
Easier Maintenance
The improved stability of Thermowood and the lack of resins increases the life expectancy of surface coatings.
